Last week was somewhat surreal. At the Training Journal Awards I won an award for ‘special achievement in learning development’. It’s a huge honour for me to win this, humbling and genuinely motivating. Here’s what the judges had to say:

In recent years Martin has contributed so much to our world of learning and development. Through his journalism, he has informed us about developments in the industry, and through his knowledge of technology he has helped many of us to understand the challenges and opportunities it presents.

It is this passion for technology, combined with his generosity of spirit, a true collaborative nature and a real belief in the power of learning that makes him the perfect recipient for this TJ special achievement award.

Many readers and clients know me for my work running Itsdevelopmental Ltd, a communications and content business. Under this umbrella I also do a lot of work in the corporate learning space – it’s an area I have been interested in for a long time.

Winning the award got me thinking about our recent achievements:

All this has been achieved through social media, building relationships with loads of fantastic, supportive and encouraging people. Pretty much all of my work has involved collaborators, so, this award is down to your efforts as well, so thank you, you know who you are!

So, as 2015 comes to a close, the Itsdevelopmental ship has wind in its sails and we’re really looking forward to more journeys and adventures in 2016. Come on in, the water’s lovely!
